Police investigating multi-car crash that left one dead

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A man is dead following a multi-car crash in St. Louis County that happened Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to the intersection of Lucas and Hunt Rd. and Hord Avenue around 3 p.m. about a vehicle accident.

Authorities said a man was speeding in a Hyundai Sedan while traveling westbound on Lucas and Hunt Rd., when he ran a red light and hit two other passing vehicles.

Both the passenger and driver in the Hyundai Sedan were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The people in the other two vehicles involved were not seriously injured.

A few hours later, 22-year-old Michael Simmons was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries from the accident, according to police.

The driver of the Sedan is still in critical condition.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons unit is conducting the ongoing investigation.
