ST. LOUIS, Missouri (KMOV) - Historic brick homes and peaceful walks are typical in Tower Grove South.  It's one of many things that Paige Canfield, and other neighbors said keeps them living here.

“I got good neighbors.  I have friends that live here.  I like living in the city,’ said Canfield.

Authorities said a suspect with a gun caused unwelcome drama, and it just feet away from her home just before 10 Friday night.

“I heard some shouting heard a couple pops,” Canfield.

In that moment she realized they were gunshots.

“My dogs were barking. I went to bring in my dogs more than anything. I was afraid they were going to get hurt and then all of a sudden there were sirens everywhere,” said Canfield.

St. Louis police said someone shot and killed a man in his 60's.  It happened on Juniata Street near Gustine just south of Tower Grove Park.  Some in this community said it's just one more thing that makes the city look bad.  Kathy Schnur think what happened is horrifying.

“Terrible. I have friends that won't come visit me because I live in the city. So this happens and they definitely won't come,” said Schnur.

Schnur gets people's concerns but for now is just focused on learning more about what happened as well as keeping herself safe.

“That's tragic and we have to start being aware of who's in the neighborhood and keeping track of neighbors closely,” said Schnur.

Yet, Canfield and Schnur said they aren't moving anytime soon.
