O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Dominic’s High School in O’Fallon, Mo. is calling off classes Friday because of out an outbreak of the flu.

The school announced the decision Thursday evening.

Administrators said 94 students were going to be absent Friday because of the flu, and several staff members are also sick.

The school said the building will be open if students must retrieve any items, but the main office will be closed and teachers will not be at the building.

After school practices and meetings are set to go on as scheduled.

The school sent the following letter to parents about the flu outbreak:

Dear Parents,

As of this time our absent count due to illness is at 94 students.  We also have teachers, administrators and staff who are ill.

In an effort to allow our student body to get healthy, as well as catch up; we will be having NO CLASSES tomorrow, Friday, February 10.

The building will be open all day if students need to get materials from their lockers.  Teachers will not be in the building and our Main office will be closed.

This will NOT be an eLearning day.   After school practices, competitions and meetings will go on as usual.

Please do all that you can to assure that your teen is getting enough sleep and plenty of rest.

Blessings,

Janet Eaton

Missouri has been one of the hardest hit states in the country when it comes to the flu.
