Oakville schools return to normal after suicidal man found in area

Posted: Updated:

OAKVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) –Multiple schools in Oakville, Missouri locked their doors after police notified them of a suicidal man in the area Thursday.

The high school, middle school and three elementary schools locked their doors and kept students inside because there was a report of a suicidal man somewhere in the area.

The man was not in any school and school officials said the schools are in “zero danger.”

St. Louis County Police officials said they received a call for a suicidal subject, but the information regarding the subject was limited so they are investigating to find the man. During the search, one of the areas they were investigating was near the high school.

The officials said the decision to lock the schools appears to be a cautious move because there was no information regarding a legitimate threat to the schools. No students were involved, according to police.

The school district said their operations returned to normal around 12:30 p.m. after police located the man.
