Phoenix-bound flight makes emergency landing in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An American Airlines flight was diverted to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport Thursday morning.

American Airlines flight 534 was headed from Columbus, Ohio to Phoenix when it was diverted to St. Louis for an emergency landing around 8:14 a.m.

There were 113 passengers and five crew members on the plane at the time of the emergency landing.

Around 9:20 a.m., the airport tweeted they were fully operational as a security check of the aircraft was underway. 

According to officials, a security check of the aircraft was performed "out of an abundance of caution." Around 10:40 a..m., American Airlines said the incident was "deemed non-credible by law enforcement" and the flight would continue on its way to Phoenix.

The FBI confirmed to News 4 that they were involved in the situation at the airport.
