ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

At a job fair in St. Charles County Wednesday, employers were looking to fill manufacturing jobs.

The job fair was held at the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County. Many companies on-hand were looking for workers to perform manufacturing jobs and they say it has been tough to fill openings. At the job fair, roughly 1,000 welder, machine operator, machine technicians and folk lift driver positions were showcased.

“Many folks bought into the hype that every manufacturing company and job moved south of the border or across the ocean, and that’s just not true. There’s more people working in manufacturing in St. Charles County than there was 10 years ago,” said Scott Drachnik, the Executive Director of the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles.

Organizers said many of the positions may require additional training or certification.

Many of the jobs offer four weeks of paid vacation in the first year, sick leave, insurance and 12 paid holidays a year.
