ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – One person is in custody and a woman and child are in the hospital following a fiery crash on Interstate 44 in south St. Louis.

The two-vehicle crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 just before Grand around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to fire officials, the occupants of the car that was overturned and caught fire ran from the scene. One of the suspects was later taken into custody after being found on DeTonty Street.

The woman and her 8-month-old were in an SUV that did not catch fire in the crash. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A concrete median was damaged in the crash.

No other information has been released.
