ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

You might have seen people posting on social media to delete the ride sharing service Uber because the ride share company is facing backlash for its response to President Trump's travel ban.

But other local companies say there are other ride services available, including one started by immigrants.

"God Bless America and they give us opportunity," says Mehari Tekle. He heads up A Super Taxi.

He says he named it A Super Taxi because that's the experience he wants his riders to have. Many of his drivers are independent contractors.

"We are supporting the immigrant people because we are immigrants. I  not born and raised here," says Tekle.

A Super Taxi is part of the St. Louis Taxi Cab Commission and has been up and running for a year now. Tekle says business is slowly but surely growing. He says it has picked up since the weekend, when many people started deleting Uber.

When protesters were demonstrating against the travel ban executive order at New York's JFK airport over the weekend, Uber kept it's services up and running while taxi drivers actually joined the protesters. Some people took offense to Uber's move and #deleteUber started trending.

Tekle says for him and his drivers, talk of immigration has brought up many questions with unclear answers.

"Everybody is looking to the whole world to come to the US. The situation, now the current ban against immigrants, we don't know where we are what is going to happen to us?"he says.

News 4 reached out to Uber to see if there's been a dip in usage in our area. They didn't return any calls.
