ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The St. Louis Board of Aldermen voted to allow a funding bill for a Major League Soccer stadium to appear on the April ballot.

The most recent bill includes a ticket tax of 2.5 percent, which would go to St. Louis City.

A judge will still need to give final approval before the measure appears on the ballot.

Major League Soccer previously sent a letter to the chairman of SC STL, the group behind bringing a team to the area, stating that an All Star game would be played at the new stadium within five years of the team’s inaugural season.
