ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The St. Louis Board of Aldermen’s Ways and Committee voted down the proposal to renovate the Scottrade Center Monday morning.

Earlier in the month, officials with the St. Louis Blues said the proposed upgrades were estimated to cost $78 million, which included $11 million that was already spent on projects at the center by the team.

The upgrades would include revamped seating areas, a larger team store and a new scoreboard with higher resolution.

This was the third committee hearing for the bill in January.

The move does not mean the bill is dead. Some aldermen said they hoping to look at other finding options, including allotting the money over a period of years rather than all at once.
