ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

In response to President Donald Trump's executive order signed Friday to temporarily ban immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, Mayor Francis Slay went to Twitter on Sunday.

Slay tweeted around noon, "Two- thirds of Syrian refuges in #stl are under 8 years old. #stl has grown stronger and more diverse by welcoming immigrants #fgs."

Under President Trump's executive order Syrian refugees would be banned indefinitely.

Slay added that he believes the action is "contrary to the values of our community."
