Suspect hospitalized, another on the loose after robbery, police chase

ST. ANN, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A suspect is in the hospital and another is on the loose following a police chase Friday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., two suspects robbed the Shop and Save on St. Charles Rock Road, police said. During the robbery, one of the suspects reportedly struck an employee with a gun before taking off.

When St. Ann police officers saw the suspects’ car traveling on Interstate 170 they began to pursue it.

During the pursuit, the passenger in the vehicle fired shots at officers, but officers did not return fire, according to police.

At some point during the chase, the passenger in the suspect's vehicle got out and took off.

The suspect vehicle continued into Berkeley, where it eventually crashed into another car in the area of Airport Road, near Berkeley City Hall. The driver of the suspect vehicle, Darnell Duncan, 41,  was taken into custody and then to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. he is charged with stealing and resisting arrest.

Information regarding the second suspect has not been released. Police said they are hoping to get surveillance video from the Shop and Save robbery to get a description of the second suspect.
