(MEREDITH) -- Actress Mary Tyler Moore passed away on Wednesday, January 25, her publicist confirmed to the Associated Press. Moore was on a respirator for more than a week, prior to her death. The starlet battled Type 1 diabetes and had brain surgery in 2011. Moore became famous after starring on the Dick Van Dyke show from 1961-1966. She also starred in her own show, the "Mary Tyler Moore Show," from 1970-1977. She won 7 Emmy awards and was inducted into the television Hall of Fame in 1986.
