St. Clair Co. judge accused of lying to police

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly is accusing a judge of lying to police.

The allegations against Ronald Duebbert are outlined in a letter to the Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board in Chicago. 

News 4 has reported about potential criminal charges against Duebbert. 

Duebbert was accused of living with murder suspect David Fields.

Fields is accused of killing Carl Silas on December 30, 2016. 

In the letter to the Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board Duebbert is accused of the following: 

Making untruthful statements to law enforcement.

Making statements to the media on the record about police activities in an on-going major case squad murder investigation while a suspect remained at large, revealing details not authorized to be released to the public, including the identity of a suspect and to whom police had spoken. 

the use of a racial epithet. 

According to Brendan Kelly the allegations were also submitted to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

Attempts to reach Duebbert for comment were unsuccessful.
