2 ejected, killed in Metro East accident

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A 32-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl were killed when they were ejected from their car in an accident near East St. Louis Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the intersection of St. Clair and 79th. Tamika Thornton, 32, was driving a Chevy Suburban eastbound on St. Clair. When she tried to make a left on 79th, the Suburban was hit by a Chevy Impala going westbound on St. Clair.

Thornton and the 12-year-old girl were ejected from the Suburban and killed. The 33-year-old driver of the Imapala suffered serious injuries.

Accident reconstruction crews are investigating.
