ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - St. Louis Police are asking for the public's help identifying the two men who shot and killed 15-year old Toni Stevenson on Tuesday.

According to St. Louis Police Captain Mary Warnecke, Stevenson was shot as she sat in a car in front of her house in the 6000 block of Thekla. Police said she was intentionally targeted by two men with assault rifles.

"Just from the information we've been able to develop so far there was no doubt she was the intended target of this assassination," said Warnacke.

Stevenson was a student at Northwest Law Academy Magnet School where she played three sports. Warnacke said Stevenson had no association with gangs and did not run with the wrong crowd. Despite several online comments that claim Stevenson was killed for being a snitch, investigators said she was not a witness in any cases and for now, they believe the online posts are just chatter.

"It's a tragedy and we know people in the community know something, we know people in the community have some information and we're pleading with them to call Crimestoppers. We don't need another loss of life, we don't need retaliation, we need someone to come forward and give us the information we need to put a stop to this."

If you or anyone you know has information on this case, call Crimestoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
