WEST ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A west St. Louis County man is headed to federal prison for his involvement with a fake ticket scheme.

Police said for nearly a year, Darrin Landes targeted sports lovers by selling thousands of dollars in phony tickets to Cardinals games, the Kentucky Derby, and the Masters Golf Tournament in Georgia.

He also offered hotel accommodations and resorts to customers but never delivered.

Landes convinced customers through the phone, e-mails, and in person to wire money to his PayPal account.

Landes has been sentenced to 30 months on wire fraud charges.
