Police searching for armed suspect following the robbery of a grocery store

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Police are actively searching for a man they say held up a grocery store on Wednesday, while possessing a firearm. 

On Jan.18, St. Louis County Police officer responded to a call for a robbery around 8:15 p.m.The call was concerning a Save-A-Lot grocery store, located in the 8000 block of St. Charles Rock Road in North St. Louis County. 

The investigation revealed a suspect walked into the grocery store, attempting to purchase an item, police said. When the cashier's register opened to complete the purchase, the suspect displayed the firearm and announced that it was a robbery. 

The suspect was given an unknown amount of money and fled the scene. 

Police describe the suspect as being a male between the ages of 25-35, with a light complexion, and standing around 6'1" tall. He is said to have a slim, athletic build.

The robbery is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
