ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) –   Brinyn Leachman,10, was killed when he was thrown from a car during a crash in west St. Louis early Monday morning. He would have been 11 years old on Tuesday.

Leachman was riding in a car with five other people when their vehicle crashed with a white SUV that was occupied by one person at Wabada and Union around 12:45 a.m., according to police.

The person in the white SUV ran away from the crash scene, police said.

"After interviewing the people involved in the accident, we found one person in one of the vehicles left the scene on foot in an unknown direction," said St. Louis City Police Department Lt. Michael Muxo.

Two other children and a woman were transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition following the crash.

"As a result of the accident, a young boy was pronounced deceased and the family members who were also with the vehicle were transported to an area hospital," Lt. Muxo said.

Police have not said if speed or fog was a factor in the crash.

All lanes near the crash scene were closed until just after 5 a.m.

Police said they do not have a good description of the driver.
