As Ice Storm Warning ends, MoDOT deactivating emergency operations

Posted: Updated:
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The Ice Storm Warning is in it's third and final day, and as such, the Missouri Department of Transportation will be deactivating it's emergency operations at noon.

This deactivation comes after more than 72 hours of accidents and delays caused by the weather. The freezing rain and ice covered the roads, and caused MoDOT drivers to work around the clock to lay down salt brine and other chemicals to combat the freezing rainfall.

But an improved forecast for the Missouri-area appears to allow MoDOT to deactivate their emergency operations. However, MoDOT officials said they will continue to monitor road conditions.
