Crash involving officer closes WB I-70 in North County Friday night

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

An accident involving an officer closed all lanes of I-70 at Florissant in North County Friday night.

The accident occurred near the Bermuda exit around 5:10 p.m.Multiple cars, including the vehicle the officer was driving were involved.

A Normandy officer had pulled over to assist in a minor accident and was outside of his Chevy Tahoe. A 22-year-old driver in a Nissan Sentra was traveling one late over, but lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the back of the officer's vehicle. 

According to police the Sentra, which was carrying three passengers in addition to the driver, was traveling too fast for road conditions. All four occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The officer was not hurt. The damage to both vehicles was extensive, with the Sentra being totaled. 

Nobody is believed to be seriously hurt.
