FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A woman is facing charges in connection to the death of a man who was found in a burning pile of brush in Franklin County.

Donna Tooley, 51, is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.

Tooley allegedly killed Vincent White, 50.

His body was found in a burning pile of brush in the state run Chouteau Claim fishing area near Moselle, Mo. Crews with the Forestry Division of the Missouri Department of Conservation were cleaning the area near the Meramec and Bourbeuse Rivers when they found his remains on January 10.

"It looks like the remains were lit on fire," said Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton.

Tooley lived with White, police said.

The gruesome crime has also shaken some area residents.

"It's really scary because you don't see that in this area," said Joe DiClue, who lives along Highway AH.

The investigation is ongoing.
