ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The Salvation Army Midland Division will host a Red Kettle Blitz on Wednesday.

During the organization’s first ever blitz, donors can drive by their headquarters at the corner of Hampton and Wise Avenue in St. Louis to drop off monetary donations without getting out of their vehicle.

“One year ago at this time, The Salvation Army was helping survivors after the winter floods damaged homes and businesses in Missouri and Illinois. Thanks to the public’s donations, The Salvation Army was there to help in the immediate aftermath, and today, The Salvation Army continues with long term recovery efforts,” said Lt. Colonel Dan Jennings, The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Commander.  “The Salvation Army is short of reaching the Tree of Lights campaign goal. The donations are sorely needed to fund programs and services for women and children, seniors, youth, the homeless, our military veterans and during times of disasters like the flooding of winter 2015.”

Salvation Army officials said they hope the blitz will help them reach their fundraising goal of $6.1 million, which is used to ensure programs and services to those in need throughout the year.

The blitz will be held from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on January 11.
