BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

More than 300 students had to be evacuated after smoke sent off an alarm at an elementary school on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to Douglas Elementary where they discovered a faulty electric motor in a large portable heat source as the cause.
