2 lanes re-open on I-64 following multi-vehicle accident

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

All lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 (I-64) have reopened following a multi-vehicle accident Monday afternoon. 

The accident occurred some time after 1:00 p.m. on eastbound I-64 past Vandeventer Avenue. Two left lanes on the highway have been shut down. Traffic is currently bumper-to-bumper and the flow of traffic is moving slowly. 

The Missouri Department of Transportation originally said the expected clearance time was around 3:20 p.m. But the accident was cleared a little earlier, around 3:13 p.m. 

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, but News 4 has learned two people were injured following the accident. 

Both were transported to the hospital. One driver is in critical condition while the other driver is in stable condition. 

News 4 will update this story as more information becomes available.
