Broken gas line causes evacuation of construction workers in CWE

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Construction workers evacuated their site Thursday morning after a gas line snapped in the Central West End. 

The incident occurred some time after 10:00 a.m., near the intersection of Taylor Avenue and Forest Park Avenue, just east of Forest Park. 

St. Louis City EMS and Fire responded to the scene of the break to assist in the evacuation. 

According to City EMS, the gas line was a six-inch line that led to the main gas line. Laclede Gas shut off the gas line shortly after. 

Authorities said the evacuation is temporary. Th fire department on the scene checked the gas levels and said there were no levels of gas. 

No injuries have been reported from the scene.
