Police and the NHL are teaming up to crackdown on fake Winter Classic merchandise.
The NHL says there are lots of people who try to rip fans off by selling fake merchandise. The league will have representatives in town over New Year’s weekend to crack down on the selling of such items.
The league said there are certain ways to tell if an item is fake. For example, a non-authentic jersey fades faster than a real uniform.
“The most important thing that we ask our fans to look for is to keep an eye out for the NHL hologram hang tag or sticker, one of those should be on all of our licensed products,” said Jia Wang, an NHL spokesman.
The Blues and Blackhawks face each other at Busch Stadium on January 2.
