Three suspects stole Christmas gifts when they broke into a Fairview Heights home Saturday night.  Police are calling this a random act.

Police say three male suspects forced their way through the back sliding glass door of a home in the 200 block of Debra Drive around 11:00 p.m. One of the suspects displayed a gun at the victim, who was ushered into a pantry while the suspects looked for items to steal.

The door was left unlocked.

The suspects got away with several gifts from under the Christmas tree. While the suspects were doing the stealing, the victim got away and called police.

"She was scared for her life," Officer Ben Hester with the Fairview Heights Police Department said. "It took a long time for our guys to get her to calm down to be able to speak.

"Not only is it horrible because of the act itself but it's also Christmas Eve and she was preparing to go to church."

Police are not saying exactly what gifts were stolen from the victim because they may be able to track some of them.

If you have any information on the crime, call Fairview Heights police at 618-489-2100.
