TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A south St. Louis man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he opened fire on police officers before leading them on a city-wide chase.

44-year-old Demetrius Richmond is facing two counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, a charge of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession and resisting arrest.

Police say officers were performing hot spot policing near the intersection of Park and Ohio in south St. Louis when they spotted a car of interest.

Richmond, who lives in the 4600 block of Gustine, was reportedly inside the car along with two other suspects. When officers approached, someone inside the vehicle fired toward them. They did not return fire.

The suspects then led officers on a chase on westbound Interstate 64, eventually giving up in a parking garage near I-64 and Mason in Town and Country.

Richmond, another male and a female were arrested at the scene, and police reportedly recovered a long gun from the car.

There were no injuries reported.

Richmond is being held on $150,000 cash-only bond.
