NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

One man has now been charged after allegedly leading officers on a chase that ended in north St. Louis on Thursday.

Around 12:30 p.m., police say someone in the 200 block of Palm Drive in Hazelwood called police stating a suspect was kicking in the front door to a neighbor’s home.

Officers arrived on the scene and began to chase the suspect on foot before police say he jumped into a tan SUV which was driven by a friend of his.

The two then made their way to I-70 and led officers on a chase into St. Louis City. They crashed just west of Kingshighway, and their car overturned a few times, police say.

The two proceeded to get out of their vehicle and they allegedly tried to steal a car driven by a man, but officers caught up with them and arrested the two.

Police say the man was not injured.

This is not the first time the Hazelwood neighborhood has seen a crime like this. Police say it has been a real hot spot for burglaries over the last couple of months.

"We got a TV stolen, x-box and a couple of small things around the house," Aaron Taylor, a victim says.

Taylor hopes with today's arrest of the two suspects, it will send a strong message to thieves.

"Stop. I want it to stop. it's the holidays and they are doing this kind of stuff," he says.
