NASHVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) - There is finally a winner Wednesday in a raffle that has been the talk of the town for months in Nashville, Illinois.

The jackpot at the American Legion grew to $377,469 before Ron Beckmann drew the lucky card in the queen of hearts raffle.

Yellow tickets were selling like hot cakes throughout the year. But it all came down to Wednesday night.

"Just $20 worth but it just takes one to win," says Wanda Arnold.

No one could believe how the raffle just took off after January.

"It's progressed and progressed. Once he hit about $100,000, it's crazy. We already taken $80,000 in sales this week alone," says Dan Heggemeier, bar manager for American Legion Post.

20 percent of the money raised from ticket sales goes right back to American Legion for projects.

"We have a need for a handicapped bathroom upstairs it's been unaccessible for years. That's going to be re-modeled. We are redoing both bathrooms upstairs," he says.

Finally, a ticket was drawn, but it wasn't over. Ron Beckmann also had to draw the Queen of Hearts and he did just that.

He was so filled of joy, all he could say was, "Awesome. It's awesome."

Beckmann had $140 worth of tickets in the pot and played for the last five weeks. He says he will be splitting the earnings between himself, his wife and six of his friends who went in with him.
