Sources: St. Louis police officer's union to endorse Krewson for mayor

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- This afternoon, one candidate for the top spot in St. Louis will get a big nod from the police officer’s union.

Multiple sources confirm to News 4 that Lyda Krewson will be endorsed by the St. Louis Police Officer’s Association at a planned announcement scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Krewson has been an alderman since 1997.

The union said they feel an obligation to support a candidate who shares strong support with police officers.

Seven people have officially filed for the mayor’s race, but more could still enter the fray. Those who have filed so far: Alderman Jeffery Boyd, Alderman Antonio French, school board member William Haas, Treasurer Tishaura Jones, Alderman Lyda Krewson, former Alderman Jimmie Matthews and President of the Board of Aldermen Lewis Reed.
