SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

One suspect was arrested and another is at-large after the two robbed a Taco Bell in south St. Louis Wednesday night, police say.

The two allegedly entered a Taco Bell in the 3500 block of Grand around 5:45 p.m. and announced a robbery. One shot was fired to intimidate the employees, police say, but nobody was hit. The suspects then ran out with a cash drawer.

As the suspects were running out of the store, police arrived on scene. One of the suspects then pointed a gun at officers. The officers returned fire, police say, but the suspects were not hit.  A suspect carrying the cash drawer and a bag dropped them both, police say.

The suspects then ran in different directions.

Police say they then chased after the armed suspect through alleys. The suspect pointed the gun at officers several more times, firing at least one shot, according to authorities.  Officers fired again at the suspect, but police do not believe he was hit. Police previously said the suspect was shot.

A bullet hole was located in the front license plate of a police vehicle, and a shell casing was found in a nearby ally during the investigation, according to police, indicating that the suspects did fire a shot.

The suspect has an injury to his hand that police say is consistent with the hand being torn up on a fence that he may have climbed over to get away from officers.

Police say they recovered a gun used by the armed suspect. The suspect is a 28-year-old man with an extensive criminal history.

The other suspect is at-large.
