Winterfest at the Arch announces opening day activities

ST. LOUIS ( -- The CityArchRiver Foundation and St. Louis Blues have announced details for the opening celebration for Winterfest at the Arch on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.

Visitors to the Gateway Arch  can ice skate in Luther Ely Smith Square between the Old Courthouse and the Arch.

The rink will open for skating at 11:00 a.m. with ceremonies beginning at 1:00 p.m. The festivities will include appearances by current Blues players and alumni, a puck drop, autographs, and photo  opportunities. The first 500 attendees will receive free Winterfest at the Arch hockey pucks. Food trucks will be on-site throughout Winterfest at the Arch (Dec. 27 – Jan. 8).

The December 27 opening day events include:

11:00 a.m. – Ice Rink Opens

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. – Opening ceremony and puck drop, appearances by Blues players, autographs, Winter Classic ticket drawing, skating, photo opportunities with St. Louis Blues mascot Louie.

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  – Skating and meet and greet with Louie

5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Appearances by Blues alumni, autographs and Winter Classic Alumni game ticket give-away

5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Winterfest at the Arch ice rink will remain open for skating with music and food trucks

Other Winterfest at the Arch events include: Try Hockey For Free Sessions, the Winter Whiskey Warm-Up on Dec. 30, family friendly New Year’s Eve including fireworks, and a New Year’s Day street hockey tournament. Visit for additional information and a full list of sponsors.
