ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A 19-year-old has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for taking a girl from her home.

John Classen was 17 when he broke into a 10-year-old girl’s home in the 100 block of McCluer Drive and forcible took her from the home, according to police.

Police said the victim’s mother awoke and saw Classen abducting the victim through the backyard and called 911 while the girl’s father pursued the pair on foot.

Thirty-five minutes after abducting the girl, Classen was taken into custody.

The victim was shaken and had minor injuries, but was otherwise not physically harmed and was returned to her family.

Classen was sentenced after being convicted of kidnapping, burglary, child abuse and possession of child pornography.
