BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Officer Michael Flamion’s sacrifice and heroism was honored during the Ballwin Board of Aldermen meeting Monday.

Officer Flamion has been back for over three weeks, but only tonight did he get a chance to be publicly welcomed back.

The Law Enforcement Purple Heart and The Medal of Valor was awarded to Flamion five months after he was shot in the neck and paralyzed during a traffic stop. In August, the 31-year-old had to be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Colorado.

There’s been growing support for Flamion, including the Gary Sinise Foundation building a smart home for Flamion. It's the first time ever that the foundation is working on a home for a first responder.

Monday’s ceremony was in front of the Flamion’s family and the entire Ballwin community.  Also in attendance was the entire Ballwin Police Department, thanks to the help of neighboring departments taking over policing in Ballwin.
