SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Police are searching for the driver that left the scene of a hit-and-run in south St. Louis County.

Around 2 a.m .Sunday, Adam Schwartz was skateboarding home when he was hit by a vehicle near Watson Rd. and Laclede Metro Station.

The 26-year-old said the incident has taught him to appreciate the little things in life.

"I can still wiggle my toes. I know you can see them wiggling," he said. "I mean, if it hurts to walk for six months, it hurts to walk, but I'm not paralyzed."

Schwartz's right leg is broken, and he has months of recovery ahead of him as well as a surgery or two.

No description of a driver or vehicle is immediately available, but Monday morning police said they had identified a person of interest.

A YouCaring page has been set up for Schwartz.
