HILLSBORO, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Hillsboro Police are investigating a theft that left a carpenter without the tools he uses to make a living.  According to Chief Charles Bennett, thieves stole an enclosed box trailer that was full tools and equipment from a construction site in the Brickyard
subdivision. It happened around 5 a.m. Thursday.

The trailer and equipment is valued at over $18,000 and included a compressor, 3 generators and numerous hand tools and other construction equipment.

The trailer belonged to carpenter, Tim Gibson. He told News 4 he was doing finishing work at one of the new homes under construction in the subdivision. He's offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps him get his tools back.

Surveillance cameras a the home of one of the residents in the neighborhood recorded images of the thieves driving off with the trailer. The vehicle they were driving is described as an older model Ford or Mazda extended cab 4X4 pickup with after market
wheels and a brush guard. Gibson said the truck appeared to be gray or green in the video.

Police are asking anyone who knows something that can help in the investigation to call the Hillsboro Police Department at 636-797-5226, extension 2.
