ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The design of a proposed apartment building near Forest Park was unveiled to nearby residents Monday night.

The proposal calls for a 36-story apartment building to be built in a currently empty lot at the corner of West Pine and Kingshighway. The project also calls for retail, amenities and parking.

The planned 385-foot building, which is estimated to cost $130 million, was met with mostly support when it was unveiled.

“I think it’s a big contrast to the Chase Park building, but I think it’s the right direction for the neighborhood,” said Lee Guo, who has lived in the area for three years.

New Jersey Developer Mac Properties is working with architecture firm Studio Gang on the project. Studio Gang has designed signature buildings such as Aqua Tower in Chicago.

The proposal will be presented to the zoning committee in February. If it is approved, the group hopes to break ground in 2017 and finish construction by 2018.
