HOUSE SPRINGS (KMOV.com) – Instead of buying Christmas presents for their son, a Jefferson County family is picking out funeral arrangements.

Michael Jeademann, 24, was killed in an alleged drunk driving accident over the weekend.

“My whole life is changed forever, learning how to relive without him,” said Sandy Jeademann, Michael’s mother.

On Saturday night around midnight, Michael Jeademann was the passenger in a car that crashed in West St. Louis County at the intersection of Hillsboro and Meramec Station Road.

“The driver hit the tree and Michael was ejected from the car,” said Sandy Jeademann.

Police say the driver was Michaella Baker, 24. She was arrested but police say they are waiting for toxicology reports before filing charges.

“All I know is she left the scene, why, I don’t know; where she went, I don’t know; how she went, I don’t know,” said the grieving mother. “As a mother I’m very angry, because I could not do that to a stranger much less someone who was supposed to be his friend.”

Michael Jeademann died at the scene. His mother wonders if Baker had stayed and called 911, if there was a chance he might have survived.

Jeademann says investigators told her Baker did eventually return to the scene. Baker remains in St. Louis County Jail.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to pay for the funeral, which is scheduled for this weekend.
