MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A Belleville man was sentenced to 34 years in prison for his role in the death of Roderick Taylor.

George T. Tillman,  32, pled guilty to the charge of first-degree murder on Oct. 5. He was charged last December.

On Dec. 17, 2015, shortly after 7:00 p.m., a Brooklyn Police officer pursued a Tillman, who was driving a 2006 Cadillac. The pursuit came after Tillman fled the officer, who was attempting a traffic stop on Route 3 in St. Clair County.

During the pursuit, Tillman crashed near a roundabout near the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Collinsville Road in East St. Louis.

Following the crash, Tillman was taken to the hospital and his vehicle was towed, where it was later discovered that the body of Taylor was in the trunk of Tillman's vehicle. An investigation, led by the Illinois State Police, that Taylor had been murdered earlier that evening on Dec. 17, 2015. He was shot numerous times in the 2600 block of Logan in Granite City, Ill.

The home in which Taylor was shot, is the residence of Ashly S. Bonner, who is also being charged.

According to the investigation of Taylor's death, Bonner and Tillman lured Taylor to the residence in an effort to rob Taylor. During the robbery, Taylor was shot multiple times by Tillman. The investigation also found that Tillman was struck in the head several times with a VCR and frying pan.

Police believe Taylor was still alive after his body was placed in the trunk of Tillman's vehicle.

Police said Taylor, Tillman, and Bonner all knew one another and worked at the same company.
