NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A man riding an electric wheelchair suffered serious injuries after a hit-and-run Friday morning.

Around 1 a.m. the 67-year-old victim was riding a motorized wheelchair near the 9900 block of Halls Ferry Rd, when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man was immediately transported to a local hospital. He is in critical, but stable condition.

Authorities said onlookers blocked traffic until first responders arrived on scene.

Halls Ferry Rd. was shut down for a brief time during police investigation.

Police are searching for the motorist that left the scene. Police report the suspect vehicle is possibly a black Chevrolet Impala with front end damage.
