ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Organizers kicked off a great program for the military families at Scott Air Force Base Wednesday.

The Christmas Spirit Foundation and Tree Farmers Across the Country will deliver 200 Christmas trees for military families.

The trees were lined up as servicemen and servicewomen picked which one they wanted for the holiday season.  The event kicked off around 4:00 p.m..  About 500 people showed up to socialize and watch the tree lighting ceremony.  Mr. and Mrs. Claus entertained children.

Captain Travis Hough helped organize the event.  He said it warmed his heart seeing these families happy.

“That's a makes me feel fantastic.  It absolutely does to give back to somebody,” said Hough.
