ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A driver of an SUV is on the run after hitting a pickup truck Friday morning.

Officials said just before 2:00 a.m., in the 2700 block of E. Broadway, an SUV struck a pick-up truck causing the vehicle to lose control and catch on fire.

The driver of the pick-up truck had to be pulled out of the burning vehicle and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the SUV drove about three blocks from the scene without a wheel, got out the vehicle, and ran.

The pick-up truck is completely burned out by the fire and the SUV has major front end damage.

The scene is still under investigation.
