ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

(KMOV.com) - Smash and grab thieves crashed through the front of a City Gear store in south St. Louis before dawn on Thanksgiving morning. According to workers, they used a Dodge Ram pickup to back through the door and a security gate of the store at the Gravois Plaza shopping center in the 3500 block of Bamberger Avenue

Store manager Reginald Rodney told News 4, "They probably got, at retail value, about a thousand dollars of Nike and Jordan stuff."

Two days earlier thieves stole a minivan owned by a single mother and used it to crash through the front of the City Gear store in the 1400 block of North Grand.

"I think it's a shame that people would do things like that, it doesn't make any sense at all," said customer Pat Lindsey.

On Sunday at the south St. Louis store, shoplifters grabbed arm loads of clothes and ran out the door.

Rodney said, "That's just frustrating and man, time consuming and with it being on the holidays, that was just hard."

Both stores were previously the victims of smash and grab crimes. On Christmas Eve of 2014, thieves drove a vehicle into the front of the Gravois Plaza store but failed to get through a security gate. And on September 12th of 2014, smash-and-grab thieves drove through the front of the North Grand store and stole merchandise but were arrested while trying to get away.
