WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Police have charged 71-year-old Daniel Aubuchon after women accused him of making sexually suggestive comments to them while at Rennick Riverfront Park.

Police said four women have come forward to say they were alone at the park when an older man approached them and started a conversation that quickly took a frightening turn.

"And then he will segue into asking them if they're interested in sex, if they're interested in sex with him and startling them with that question," said detective Betsey Schulze.

The downtown park along the Missouri River is a popular place for festivals and families but now some women are thinking twice about visiting alone.

"It makes me feel less safe," said Irene Disbro, a park goer.

Sherrie Williams says she was surprised to hear about this kind of disturbing behavior.

"This is a small town I didn't think we had creeps here," said Williams.

Police said on one occasion, Aubuchon gave a woman a ride to her home, then asked her to have sex and put his hands on her. She was not hurt and he left quickly afterwards.

According to police, Aubuchon admitted to talking with the women when talking with investigators but denied any criminal behavior. Aubuchon has been charged with two counts of sexual misconduct and two counts of harassment.
