SAPPINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Students at Kennerly Elementary School have a much better idea of what it takes to care for them when they are sick or hurt.

The children recently got an up close look at a Cardinal Glennon helicopter and Abbott ambulance.

They learned about what a pediatric transport team does and how they care for kids each day.

The kids seemed to be impressed by the chopper.

“It was really cool. It blew all the leaves away,” William Reininger, a Kennerly Elementary second grader, said.

“Either quiet or a million questions. I think they're really excited about seeing it,” Keith Nordike, transport team manager at Cardinal Glennon, said. “We usually have a really good response from kids in the back of the helicopter. Lots of questions."

Students also brought teddy bears from home to triage and bandage.
