Suspect flees the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian; victim ID'd

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police have identified the man who was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night in north St. Louis. 

Just after midnight, 60-year-old James Lewis, of the 2500 block of Arlington, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection at Natural Bridge Avenue and Union Boulevard. 

The vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene. At this time, there is no information on the driver or how many other people, if any, were inside the vehicle when the accident occurred. 

Police said the suspect vehicle is a dark-colored sedan. 

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in critical/unstable condition before he was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The Accident Reconstruction unit is currently investigating the incident.
