FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Florissant police say a 18-year-old was struck and killed by a car along Shackleford Rd. on Thursday.

Police tell News 4 Nicholas Oswald died from his injuries after apparently walking in traffic.

"What I heard he was running over here to get something at 7-11," said Chris Robinson

Friends of the Hazelwood Central High School student describe him as a highly skilled skateboarder.

"He wanted to end up being a pro skateboarder, he probably would have made it in my opinion," said Brayden Kallmbah.

Robinson was adding to a memorial for Oswald, tossing his skateboarding shoes onto a utility cable near the scene of the accident.

"He just a good guy, always making jokes and laughing and goofing off, that's why we loved him so much."
