Local grocery workers union victim of cyber-attack

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A local grocery workers union was the victim of a cyber-attack this summer.

According to a letter sent to current and previous members of the UFCW Local 655 Food Employers Joint Pension Plan in November, the union was the victim of a ransomware attack around July 21, 2016.

A third-party data firm assisted in the investigation, which “found no evidence demonstrating that an unauthorized individual accessed or acquired” information, according to a letter sent to a former member of UFCW Local 655.

The letter continues by stating there was evidence that an unauthorized individual accessed the server on July 14, a week before the attack.

The union said there is no evidence information was obtained by the hacker, but it is impossible to definitively rule it out so they are notifying people out of caution.

As a precaution, union is providing 12 months of credit monitoring and identity restoration.

Anyone who believes they may have been impacted by the attack should call 1-855-366-0140.
